The #1 Film of the Year: Ryan Coogler's New Horror Film Sinners (2025)

Sinners was my most anticipated movie of the year—and now it’s officially my number one.

Directed by Ryan Coogler and starring Michael B. Jordan along with a cast that absolutely left no crumbs on the table. This film left me speechless. All I wanted to do when it ended… was watch it again.

Synopsis (No Spoilers)

Sinners follows twin brothers who return to their hometown with big plans: opening a new juke joint where everyone can come to eat, drink, and especially dance.

But as their uncle warns… “If you keep dancing with the devil, one day he’s gonna follow you home.”

What Worked

The storytelling? Phenomenal. The cinematography, set design, sound design, score, and soundtrack? All insane.

You can feel the attention to detail in every frame; from the way the light hits the floorboards to the way the music moves the characters. The tension builds beautifully.

And can we talk about this cast? It might be the most attractive ensemble I’ve ever seen in a film. Period.

What Might Not Work (For Others)

If you’re looking for surface-level horror or just quick thrills, this might not be that. Sinners is layered; it’s a story that is deep.

Some people might not catch all the symbolism and references on the first watch. But trust—it’s worth sitting with.

The Vibe

Watch it in IMAX.
This film deserves the biggest screen, the loudest speakers, and the fullest crowd. You want to feel this one in your chest.

But however you see it—just see it.

The Verdict: Definitely Watch

Sinners is bold, beautiful, haunting, and unforgettable.

Ryan Coogler and the entire team delivered something special; the kind of movie that sticks to your skin and gets better the more you think about it.

If you’ve seen it, tell me what you thought in the comments. If you haven’t? Run to the theater. Sinners is playing in IMAX now.
