Is Lifehack (2025) the Screenlife Movie We’ve Been Waiting For?
Share
Lifehack premiered at Austin’s SXSW Film & TV Festival and later screened at The Overlook Film Festival, where I made it a priority to catch it—and hopefully meet the masterminds behind it.
In attendance were director Ronan Corrigan and co-writer Hope Elliot Kemp, who introduced the film with so much excitement and warmth that I was instantly hyped. And yes—this is Corrigan’s debut feature. You’d never guess it.
Synopsis (No Spoilers)
Lifehack follows a group of internet friends who team up to scam thousands of dollars from a tech millionaire who gives major “that one billionaire we all know” energy.
But their plan quickly spirals out of control—and they realize too late that they messed with the wrong person.

What Worked
If you grew up on the internet like I did—chat rooms, early social platforms, classic YouTube drama—this movie gets you.
There are so many nostalgic nods to old-school programs, and some moments that definitely felt like love letters to people like Scammer Payback and vintage internet culture.
The cast is phenomenal, the jokes hit (especially the hidden ones), and the intense scenes had me glued to the screen. I was laughing, gasping, and fully locked in the entire time.
What Might Not Work (For Others)
If screenlife-style movies aren’t your thing, this might be a tougher sell. And a lot of the humor is very current—some of it may not land for everyone.
But honestly? For me, there’s not much to hate.
The Vibe
This is absolutely a theater movie—ideally with your chaotic best friends. The ones you’d get canceled with if you all had a podcast.
Get your popcorn, your giant soda, and lock in for a chaotic, nostalgic, ridiculously fun ride.
Then? Rewatch it at home on your laptop. Trust me—it hits so good in screenlife format when you’re right there on the screen with them.
The Verdict: Definitely Watch
Lifehack is one of my favorite surprises this festival season. It’s nostalgic, thrilling, hilarious, and full of little Easter eggs that make the whole experience more fun.
If my friend Chuck (@charlienapalm2) says it’s good… then trust me, it’s good. And I’ll co-sign that twice.
That said, Lifehack is still seeking distribution—so if this sounds like something you want to see, you’ve got to make some noise.
